FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What curriculum will we be using?
We will be using Florida state standards as a guide to create project-based learning opportunities. We will be doing themed unit studies each week and weaving that theme into writing, art, science, engineering, cooperative learning, culinary, history, Florida wildlife and habitats, practical math and whatever else we may dream up!
Is your program a drop-in program?
No, we are not a drop-in program.
Do we accept Step Up scholarships?
Yes, we are a direct provider, and payments can be conveniently made right in the EMA Marketplace.
Are we a secular group?
Yes, we are a secular group. We welcome people of all beliefs and focus on fostering an inclusive environment for everyone.
What will the kids be learning about?
Our weekly themes have not been set in stone, but some of our ideas include:
Measurement, area, and perimeter
Florida wildlife, habitats, history, Native Americans, conservation, community, branches of government, ecosystems
World cultures
Geography and fun with maps
The Mayflower journey
Ocean life
All things space
Rainbows
Spring/Winter Solstice
Insects and spiders
Reptiles
Culinary Arts (math and recipes, history of American food culture, history of chocolate, recipe book making, menu planning, shopping and budgeting, learning about culture through food, food production, imports/exports of food, impact of agriculture on environments, etc.)
We are bursting with ideas, and extremely excited to take a deep dive into topics with the kids! We will be flexible in our themes as to address our group’s interests in order to provide a great experience for the learners.
